COVID -19 CLINIC POLICIES
While the coronavirus situation and cases of COVID-19 continue to progress, it is our responsibility to safeguard the health of our clients and staff as best we can, in accordance with the Veterinarian’s Oath, and public health and state government recommendations.
In order to best serve the public during this time, Animal Skin Ear & Allergy Clinic will be implementing the following practices:
1) For food and medication refills, clients will be asked to remain in their vehicle and a member of our staff will bring your items to you. Payments may be made with a check or by credit card over the phone.
2) For recheck exams or any scheduled procedures, clients will be asked to remain in their vehicles and call us when they arrive. A member of the staff will come out and ask you the following questions prior to bringing your pet into the clinic:
Have you, your family members or any other members of your household currently, or within the past 28 days, exhibited flu-like symptoms including fatigue, aches, fever or cough?
Have you , your family members or another other members of your household traveled outside of the United States or to regions within the US where there is an outbreak of COVID-19 within the past 3 months?
Have you or anyone you have been in contact with tested positive for the COVID-19 virus?
You will be asked to remain in your car while your pet is examined and/or treated. Once your pet has been examined and has had any appropriate diagnostics, we will return your pet to you, ask your permission to dispense necessary medications and the doctor will call or email you to discuss findings, results, recommendations and instructions. All payments will be taken over the phone during the visit or you may give a personal check to the staff member who is with your pet.
3) If you are a new client scheduled for an initial visit, please call us as soon as possible prior to your initial visit. Upon your arrival, you will stay in your car and have an initial history-taking consultation with the doctor over the phone. Once that is complete, a member of our staff will come out to your car and get your pet. The doctor will complete a physical exam and necessary diagnostics, then a treatment plan and recommendations will be discussed by the doctor via phone. With your approval, necessary medications will be dispensed and you will receive a written treatment plan. So much of dermatologic diagnoses are based on the pet’s history, the initial history taking step is critical in helping your pet and cannot be abbreviated or skipped. It is mandatory that you visit our website (www.animalskinstl.com), go to “Client Resources”, download the New Client Information form and the Dermatology History form, then fill them out and email or fax them back to us at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. Please have your veterinarian send us your pet’s records at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. If we do not have your forms and your veterinary records at least 48 hours in advance of your appointment, you will be required to reschedule your initial appointment
For existing clients, we will try to help your pet as much as possible remotely by phone, video or email, but it is important that you understand diagnostics may be necessary in order to treat your pet appropriately, and medications will not be dispensed based on remote visits unless it is deemed that it will not do any harm to your pet.
Thank you for continuing your pet’s care as we all navigate this crisis together.
